Dear friends,
It has been an amazing 2 years since I created Nowhere Diary, and I had never imagined the impact and influence it would have. It touches me deeply every day to see the gratitute when featuring your work, your book or your story.
I wanted to share a little bit about why I'm launching Nowhere Newsletter, which is dedicated to bringing you even more original inspiration and a deeper dive into the world of Nowhere Diary.
It all began in the 80´s. I grew up with Star Wars, LEGO and long summer nights. All through my childhood, sci-fi had a deep impact on me. I remember lying on the floor in my room, drawing scenes from movies, while listening to the soundtrack of E.T. or Close Encounters of The Third Kind on my tape recorder and gazing at the starry sky, bicycling home in the night.
Many years later I took on photography myself, buying a camera for travel and family photos. In 2008 I moved into a house that used to belong to two landscape architects who had failed to unsubscribe from endless amounts of architectural magazines. One day I thought “hey, why not start shooting architecture?”.
Around that year I also began my work as a fingerprints expert in the Danish National Police. So after every shift and on the weekends I cruised the streets, scouting for architecture to shoot. I uploaded my first series to Behance and the rest is history. However things where not great in that new house behind the hedge. So as an escape I used my photography and disappeared in the mist shooting architecture on a more artistic level, incorporating “sad” weather in my work a lot. I now work freelance as a photographer and have been doing this for the past 4 years.
All that passion for photography and sci-fi is now transforming into Nowhere Newsletter.
I want to build on telling your stories, memories of photography and share amazing work, inspire and curate the best community out there :)
With all the crazy things going on in the world, I don’t think there has been a better time to launch a newsletter.
Built in the past, made for the future.
Warmest regards,
Kim Høltermand, founder of Nowhere Diary
