What is your backstory?
I grew up in Copenhagen, where I also studied sociology at the University of Copenhagen. This has given me a solid set of methodological and analytical tools to understand the society we live in. When I think back now, I can trace interests from my studies that eventually led to the project Still Life of Teenagers. One of my passions was sociological theories that emphasise a material perspective on social life. During my master’s thesis, I was captivated by sociologist Hartmut Rosa’s theory about our relationship to the world, including both human and non-human elements. Another interest was how specifically young people relate to the world around them and what that says about the society and times we live in. Alongside sociology, I’ve always been passionate about aesthetics and photography in particular. During the pandemic, I immersed myself more in these interests, which opened up a whole new world for me. I love the interest-based community I experience around photography.
